Types of Appliances
Elastics:
These rubber bands help to bring the upper and lower teeth into better alignment with each other.
Forsus:
This fatigue resistant device is used as an alternative to headgear in order to encourage growth in teens that addresses significant issues. It can be key to avoiding jaw surgery.
Palatal Expander:
When the upper jaw is too narrow for the teeth to come together correctly, a palatal expander can widen it and then help the upper arch solidify in its proper expansion.
Positioners:
These devices complete final tooth movements at the end of orthodontic treatment and are worn for one to two months.
Retainers:
These devices hold the teeth in their corrected positions, preventing them from migrating back to where they started.
Spacers:
Small rubber donut-shaped appliances are used to create space when needed. They are placed between two teeth and then removed at the next appointment.
